Tasting Notes

In the mid-70’s, the State of WA Agricultural Department planted a test vineyard in Margaret River to test wine grape varieties. The vineyard used to have up to 13 varieties now we just have the 2, including the original Cabernet Sauvignon.  The Cabernet and the Merlot used in this blend both come from this property known as “Bramley Research Station Vineyard”.  The fruit is trucked back to Swan Valley for production.  The juice spends 14 days in the open fermenters with the skins on resulting in a rich crimson red colour.  A bouquet of dense blackberry and cassis compliment the secondary notes of sweet spices and fresh cut cedar.  The palate is focused with the support and quality of 40% new and 60% 1-year old French oak for 14 months.  The finish is a complex, long, and balanced wine.

14.0% ALC/VOL, 0g/litre, cellaring potential up to 20 years.
