Tasting Notes

Our flagship red wine. The grapes are grown locally by the Sita family on Hadrill Road planted in 1954 and the Nesci Vineyard in the Perth Hills – Chittering Valley planted in 1946.  The vines are over 50 years old and are considered bush vines with no canopy.  The vines are minimally irrigated due to the change in weather in the Swan over recent years. It spends 18 months in 40% new and 60% 1- year old French oak barrels.  The deep, dark colour is a result of leaving the pressed juice in the open fermenters for 14 days with the skins on.  Aromas of ripe forest fruits and raspberry are complimented with liquorice and dark chocolate.  Maturation in the best French oak adds some sweet cedar and spice notes.  The palate is generous and rich with flavours of plum, dark chocolate and dark cherry continuing to a warm lingering finish.
